Sokol Spirit is a 501C3 non-profit organization under the American Sokol. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The member volunteers at Sokol Spirit rely on the generous donations of its members and friends. Thank you for whatever you can do to help.
For your information, Sokol Spirit has had a professional audit done by Seldon-Fox, Oakbrook, Illinois each year and they prepare our taxes as well. An informal member audit committee reviews our books. The reviewed records are from each area with financial responsibilities and includes the following: yearly summary statement, all receipts, bank statements, money transfers as noted in the organization's minutes taken at the unit, board of directors, bingo, board of instructors, and junior board levels, and any investments made or trusts/will income. Any "fundraiser" must have a summary...an internal form designed by the Sokol Spirit audit committee with the finance/trustee committee. At the annual meeting in June, the results of this audit are revealed and copies are available.
Donations may be to the General Fund (to be used where it is most needed such as boiler replacement); Memorial Fund (used for athletic equipment, instructor clinics); Newsletter Fund (to publish and mail out our newsletter); Travel Fund (to attend athletic classes, events, slets, and meets for participants…Note: 10% of all fund-raising access goes to this fund);
Please remember and consider Sokol Spirit in your will or trust, to honor the passing of a special birthday, anniversary or memory. Many employers through their human resources/employment office have programs/policies where they will match your donation dollar for dollar when given for specific programs or to generate new programs (grants).
Each January, Sokol Spirit has a special solicitation called the Falcon Key Club drive, donations of which are listed in our exhibition program in March.
Thank you for considering some of these opportunities. Make checks payable to Sokol Spirit.
