Czech Language Classes 2023
This year, we have made some changes to our Czech Language program structure. Please review what should provide a more versatile and flexible structure for 2023/24.
Option 1: Conversational Czech for Life Learners
Monday Mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 AM
This is our regular in-person class, held on Monday mornings, that has built friendships, with a light and playful approach to Czech basic conversation and basic grammar. Our goal is to socialize, have fun and learn some Czech along the way, in a friendly environment. New this year: we have moved this class to the large lower lever hall! This provides more space to roam around in conversational practice, and fewer stairs for participants to climb. More space helps us to welcome new students!
Please Note: the former Wednesday class for advanced learners, which moved from in-person to Zoom during Covid, has been discontinued this year. We would be delighted to see our Wednesday students join the Monday Czech class, or try other programs offered this year.
Option 2: Individual Czech language lessons via Zoom OR In-person
Since our adult students are at various levels of Czech skills, and have different time flexibility, we have steered toward One-on-One individual sessions, at the student's skill level. Participants have option of Zoom or In-person lessons, by agreement.
Option 3: Virtual Czech language Social Club
We are starting a Zoom Social Czech Club, which is devoted to all friends and students who want to stay in touch, socialize, and talk about Czech culture and traditions, while we slip in some basic Czech conversation here and there. This social club will be held on Zoom, Sundays, once a month.
Everyone is invited to join in for some chit chat!
Periodic Cultural and Historical Programs via Zoom
We have had a lot of interesting questions from our students and friends, that we didn’t have enough time to address in our previous classes or events. Therefore, we will have periodic presentations on various topics regarding Czechoslovak traditions and history. We look forward to any comments and suggestions that can shape the direction of our presentations. Look for more information coming soon.
In person classes are held in the 2nd floor classroom of Sokol Spirit, which is not handicap accessible.
